This is an intro thread to DMM GAMES upcoming 2019 game 『 WIND BOYS! 』 Its theme is wind instruments x boys' high school x springtime of youth. It's slated for mobile and PC. Character designs are by Natsuko-san (@blau678). Music is by Sakamoto Hideki (@HidekiSakamoto) who is known for composing music for games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Hakuouki: Shinkai, Toukiden, etc.

BACKGROUND

In a spring day when the sakura branches extend left and right and the buds start to bloom, our protagonist has returned to their hometown Kanazawa to start a new life as a teacher.

The school where our protagonist is assigned, Ishikawa Prefecture's Ibuki High school, is a publich high school that has been established for 126 years. It is a top class, high-level school that boasts of its accomplishments both in literary and cultural aspects.

Ibuki High School's concert band was once a regular champion in national competitions. However, it's already in the distant past, the club is more or less already disbanded.

In that moment, the new freshmen entered the school like a storm, and the protagonist is caught up in the tempest of the school band's revival---



CHARACTER PROFILES

IIZUKA MINATO
CV: Kobayashi Yuusuke
Part: Trumpet
Musical Experience: 12 years
Class: 1-F

Minato has a natural gift of music but is desperately unable to read situations and plays shivering dissonance in his relationships. He was homeschooled in US when he was young, so he strongly longs for an ensemble's music.

KURAMOTO TAKARA

He is very sociable and popular in class. He has a big heart that doesn't feel prejudice or selfishness. He was in swim club in jr high & wasn't sure to continue in HS but he saw Minato and decided to join the wind ensemble.

KANEKO SOSHU
CV: Murakami Kouhei

Class: 1-F

When he was young he took lessons in playing every musical instrument. In jr high, he was the concert band head as well as the student council president. He's normally cool and collected but gets passionate when talking about Three Kingdoms.

KIYOSHIMA OUSEI

He has great reflexes and is strong at sports. He wanted to join the same club as his childhood friend Soshu so he joined the wind ensemble. His home runs a rice shop, so loving rice so much, he hates sugar restriction diets.

MITO HIBIKU

He has pretty, feminine features and is kind to beginners, but sometimes his real intentions spill out. Although he played violin for a long time, he joined the wind ensemble in jr high and took up clarinet.

HANASHIRO SERIYA

A bright guy who constantly observes with concern. He taught Takara how to play the tuba, but is also naturally a good kid and makes people die with his cuteness. He lives w/ his mom, aunt, and cousin who manage a parlor so he can be fussy with beauty and fashion.

MATSUBARA SOGAKU

He might always seem sleepy and in a daze but as he's raised in the mountains, his survival skills are A+. He loves nature and would always camp out by his house in the mountains. His granda and father plant Okinawan spinach and he helps them in the farm daily.

HANABUSA ATSUKAGE
CV: Aramaki Yoshihiko

Even though he's the former president of the wind ensemble, he thinks of club activities as a stepping stone and looks coldly at those who deeply involves themselves in the club. His father is a Council member and he required to enter a top-notch university like his elder siblings.

 

SANO TSUGUMI

He might not look it from first glance, but he's a person of steadfast character. Many people rely on him, both senpai and kouhai adore him. His dad is a gardener and Tsugumi regularly helps him at work, too. He likes mixed martial arts & is currently into military combat.

 

NOTOHARA MITSUYUKI
CV: Amatsuki

Musical Experience: 6 years
Class: 2-A

Mitsuyuki is an introvert and is not good at being friendly with others. He has no self-confidence, and cannot act on things he worries about. Watching the first years who revived the concert band with ambiguous energy, he develops strong thoughts of wanting to change himself.

 

TSUJI REITO

He was a known delinquent in junior high, but since becoming friends with Mitsuyuki, he changed his behavior and went with him to Ibuki High School. However, triggered by a certain incident, the concert band had disbanded and he started to go back to his old ways.

SEOMOON IJEONG
CV: Terashima Junta

Class: 2-A

Ijeong is the leader of High World!, an idol group popular in Korea. He suddenly paused his idol activities and went to Japan. He can moderately speak Japanese, but sometimes he mixes in weird slang and professional jargon.

 

MUKAI TOKI
CV: Nakajima Yoshiki

Class: 2-F

Toki is the band club's trombonist. He formed a ska core band with Tsugumi in junior high, and fondly calls Tsugumi "aniki." He might have a bit of a bad mouth, but he is straightforward with what he wants to say. He's bad at dealing with girls that scream during live performances.

 

SUZUSHIRO IKUZO
CV: Shimono Hiro

Musical Experience: 6 years (flute), 3 years (piccolo)
Class: 2-B

Ikuzo has a high ability to offend with his unsociable behavior & frank way of speaking. Although he's childhood friends with Mitsuyuki they went separate ways because he had to move to Britain as he graduated from grade school.  He eats sweets like a competitive eater.

 

IREI YASUHITO
CV: Fukuyama Jun

Musical Experience: 3 years
Class: 1-A

Yasuhito displays a narrow range of emotions and constantly has a steady mood. He is bad at being considerate, and prefers theory and reasoning over human feelings. He likes programming and makes apps every day to earn a bit of money.

 

MINOIKE JUNTA
CV: Itou Kento

Musical Experience: 6 years
Class: 2-D

Junta is always languid and unmotivated, but when it's about things he likes, he gets extremely fired up. He doesn't like wasting energy, so he keeps communication with others at a minimum. It seems that he already knows the protagonist (heroine) from way before...

 

ITSUKI RYOUTAROU
CV: Nakada Hiroki
Part: baritone sax
Musical Experience: 5 years
Class: 3-E

Ryoutarou is agitated by nothing and maintains a calm and composed tone all the time. On one hand, he's popular with girls because of his adult-like air. On the other, he's treated as elderly by the freshmen because of his chronic shoulder pain from carrying his instrument. He aims to have good results for good recommendations.

 

TAIRA IZURU
CV: Kitamura Ryo

Musical Experience: 7 years
Class: 1-C

He is extremely shy and isn't able to talk normally with other people. However, when he's hiding his face in a video stream, he lightens up like a totally different person. He is always somewhat anemic and lacks physical strength so he is always tired and has weak constitution. He is bad at dealing with sunshine and his(?) cheerful gyaru younger sister.

 

YONEYA AKANE
CV: Asari Ryota

Musical Experience: 4 years
Class: 2-B

His family moved from Osaka as he entered high school. He dislikes being crooked and is strict w/ hierarchy. His clear manner of speaking makes him seem harsh but he has a compassionate, meddlesome side. His family manages an okonomiyaki shop so other members drop by a lot after club.

 

MARUYAMA DAISUKE
CV: Furuta Kazuki

Musical Experience: 5 years
Class: 2-E

Daisuke is elegant and courteous, and well-mannered to anyone. An academic achiever with good conduct, he's the perfect HS student but he uses all of those strengths to show love for his younger brother. His love for his brother is too heavy that he often attracts those around him.

 

MARUYAMA KOJIRO
CV: Toki Shunichi

Class: 1-B

Kojiro doesn't feel bothered by his brother's too much love for him. Unlike his brother, he isn't good at studying or sports but he knows his strengths well and lives strongly as a lovable character. It's his cherished dream to be in the band as his brother, so he does his best.

 

MOCHIZUKI AOTO
CV: Takeuchi Shunsuke

Class: 1-D

Even though he is unsociable and speaks little, Aoto is kind and puts others before himself. He is honestly stoic. His hobbies are rock climbing and physical training. During his days off he often does volunteer work in his region.

 

NANRI YAHIKO
CV: Terashima Takuma

Class: 3-B

Yahiko has a unique world view & believes he can perceive the actual nature of all things.As such, he considers "feeling" important & is enthusiastic about people's sensitivity. He's experienced not only w/ music but also w/ the arts. Right now, he's into chainsaw carving.

 

IZUMITANI MASHU
CV: Kiyama Ryuu

Mashu is a friendly guy who become friends right away with anyone. He loves girls so much that he professes he cannot live without them. He can calm the mood just by his bright words. He is poor at arguing and fighting.

 

KANNOTO MIKIO
CV: Enoki Junya

Musical Experience: 4 years
Class: 2-B

Mikio is usually harmless to anything and anyone. Because he isn't assertive or easy to anger, people can ask him for favors easily. He might be underestimated, but he basically just likes taking care of people. Ikuzou treats him like a slave.

 

TOBAYA KURI
CV: Komada Wataru

Class: 1-B

Kuri has high pride and self-confidence, and lives thinking that he can only rely on himself. He might always seem admirable, but he also has a modest and reflective side. He only strongly holds his own convictions and won't allow and contradictions.
